Dr. Cotter is a Principal and Co-Founder of ResearchDx, and the Laboratory Director of Pacific Diagnostics Clinical Laboratory, Irvine, CA, a subsidiary of ResearchDx.

Originally from New Zealand, Dr. Cotter has dedicated his professional life to advancing personalized medicine to the next level. With an international reputation as an expert, an in demand speaker, and a prolific author in the fields of genetic diagnostics, companion diagnostics and personalized medicine , Dr. Cotter frequently represents his firm at numerous world-wide conferences and symposiums.

Having received his doctorate in Biomedical Sciences from the Department of Human Genetics at the Mount Sinai School of Medicine in New York, he is Board Certified by the American Board of Medical Genetics and Genomics in both Clinical Cytogenetics and Clinical Molecular Genetics, is a Fellow of the American College of Medical Genetics and Genomics and a Fellow of the Faculty of Science Royal College of Pathologists of Australasia as well as an Associate Clinical Professor of Pediatrics at the University of California San Francisco.

Dr. Cotter’s extensive experience includes Vice President and Laboratory Director at Biocept Inc. in San Diego, Laboratory Director at the Illumina Clinical Services Laboratory in San Diego, Laboratory Director at Combimatrix Molecular Diagnostics in Irvine, Director of Molecular Cytogenetics at the Mount Sinai School of Medicine in New York, Director of Cytogenetics and Molecular Genetics at the Children’s Hospital and Research Center in Oakland CA, and Director of Advanced Molecular Diagnostics at US Labs in Irvine, California.

Mathew W. Moore, PhD – Principal, ResearchDx

Principal and Co-Founder of ResearchDx, Dr. Mathew William Moore is a distinguished world-wide leader in the field of molecular diagnostic development. He can be frequently seen behind the podium at international conferences speaking on Companion Diagnostics and Next Gen Sequencing, among other topics. Dr. Moore, an Australian expatriate, is a seasoned industry expert, technology advocate, and regulatory specialist. Previously Vice President of Research and Development of Neogenomics, Inc., Dr. Moore brings his dedication to strong customer service and a collaborative client focus to ResearchDx.

As Vice President of Research and Development for CombiMatrix Molecular Diagnostics, Inc., Dr. Moore was responsible for the oncology, and developmental disorders programs. Previously he served as Senior Scientist with US Labs, a division of Laboratory Corporation of America (LabCorp) and as Director of product development at Response Genetics. These past responsibilities provide ResearchDx with a highly respected reputation in the industry as well as a collaborative focus on client goals.

Dr. Moore received his Bachelors of Science degree in Biotechnology, graduating with honors.  He received his Ph.D. in Biotechnology from the University of New South Wales in Sydney, Australia.

Mat Moore lives in Irvine, California with his wife and two children.

 Shelly Gunn MD, PhD, FCAP – Chief Medical Officer, ResearchDx

Dr. Shelly Gunn is the Chief Medical Officer of ResearchDx and Medical Director for Pacific Diagnostics Clinical Laboratory, Irvine, CA, a subsidiary of ResearchDx.

A Board Certified Pathologist, Dr. Gunn specializes in genomic biomarker identification for the delivery of precision medicine in cancer, chronic disease, and wellness. Dr. Gunn’s Boards, Licensures, and Certifications include the American Board of Pathology, Certified in Clinical Pathology, Texas, New York, and California licensure, as well as a New York State Certificate of Qualification in Molecular and Cellular Tumor Markers.

Through her multiple peer reviewed publications, and speaking engagements across the US, Dr. Gunn has established a reputation as an expert in the field of breast cancer molecular pathology. A prolific writer, Dr. Gunn’s research has appeared in numerous scientific publications including Leukemia, Journal of Molecular Diagnostics, and Modern Pathology.

Having received a combined MD, PhD degree from the University of Texas Health Science Center Medical School in San Antonio, TX, Dr. Gunn went on to complete a clinical pathology residency at the UTHSCSA Medical School. After serving as an Assistant Professor in the UTHSCSA Department of Pathology, she joined Combimatrix Molecular Diagnostics, Inc. in Irvine, CA as their Medical Director from 2006 to 2012. Prior to joining ResearchDx, Dr. Gunn was the Chief Medical Officer and Laboratory Director of Molecular Health’s next generation sequencing laboratory in The Woodlands, TX.

Dr. Gunn’s Awards include recognition as the 2003 recipient of the Association for Molecular Pathology (AMP) Young Investigator Award for outstanding translational research and the 2002 recipient of the UTHSCSA Medical School Carl A. Klein Award for excellence in Pathology.

A native Texan, Dr. Gunn resides in San Antonio, TX with her husband, yellow Labrador Retrievers, a cat, and assorted birds.

 Bobbie Foresta – Chief Financial Officer

Complimenting her more than eighteen years of experience in corporate accounting, Ms. Foresta also has over eight years of experience in Human Resources management. Over the last eighteen years she has worked in a variety of different industries including public accounting, manufacturing and non-profit.
Ms. Foresta received her Bachelor of Science degree in Accountancy with honors from National University in 2002.

She is a dedicated volunteer Treasurer for the Saddleback Valley Humane Society & SPCA and resides in Coto de Caza with her husband and two dogs.

Louis Ferland, PhD, PMP – VP of Clinical Research Services

Dr. Ferland received his PhD in Experimental Medicine from McGill University in Montreal, Canada, and followed his doctorate work with two post-doctoral fellowships at the Salk Institute in La Jolla, CA, USA, and at the Institut Pasteur in Paris, France.

Dr. Ferland then initiated an academic research career at the Burn Unit of the Hôtel-Dieu de Montréal Hospital Research Center (Université de Montréal), but eventually transferred his energy into the biotech industry arena. He helped in the buildup and growth of several start-up companies (he was company employee #1, twice) before joining the ranks of 454 Life Sciences, then itself a start-up. At 454, Dr. Ferland was instrumental in the development and release to market of the first ever “next-generation sequencing” system, and in the company’s successful acquisition by Roche Diagnostics, in 2007.

Dr. Ferland’s areas of expertise include molecular biology / genomics, endocrinology and metabolism, cancer, molecular diagnostics, and medical devices. He is also an accomplished technical / medical writer who has a solid experience in the areas of quality and safety, and with the preparation and management of regulatory submissions for medical devices. Dr. Ferland is also a certified Project Management Professional (PMP) from the Project Management Institute.

Jayne Scoggin – Director of Quality Management

Jayne Scoggin received her Bachelor’s degree from the University of Oklahoma and the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center. She then worked with Children’s Medical Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma and the University of Texas Health Sciences Center in Dallas, Texas.

Subsequently Scoggin joined Nichols Institute as a founding member of the Cytogenetics Laboratory in San Juan Capistrano, California. She worked with LabCorp in San Diego for eight years and later accepted a startup position with Biocept, Inc. where she created the Cytogenetics department and worked on detection of rare fetal cells and circulating tumor cells.

Scoggin joined ResearchDx in 2012 as Manager of Quality Systems where she oversees Quality Management activities and works to prepare clients nationwide for CLIA, State and CAP inspections. She has spent more than two decades working as a Clinical Laboratory Scientist in settings ranging from hospitals to large clinical laboratories, academic institutions and small company start- ups.

Scoggin is an avid horsewoman and breeder of Arabian horses, some of whom have received national championships in dressage, halter and jumping competitions.

Suman Verma, BAMS, PhD – Director of Genomic Services

Dr. Verma completed her medical education and residency from Maharshi Dayanand University, India. Dr. Verma completed her doctorate in Developmental Biology followed by post-doctoral fellowship in molecular biology and biochemistry from University of California Irvine. During her doctorate and post-doctoral fellowship Dr. Verma was recipient of pre-doctoral and post-doctoral awards for Breast Cancer Research from Department of Defense, USA and California Breast Cancer Research Institute respectively.

Dr. Verma joined ReseachDx Inc. in 2011. Dr. Verma has been instrumental in development of several high complexity CLIA molecular diagnostics assays. Dr. Verma also has an extensive experience in managing clinical trials studies and validation studies for diagnostic assays. Dr. Verma ‘s areas of expertise include assay development , cancer biology, molecular biology, genomics, molecular diagnostics, and companion diagnostics.
